1 day until our troops go unpaid. Tomorrow, America’s service members and their families will be faced with a financial crisis, even as they continue to serve with courage and dedication to our nation. Congress must act to protect our troops from this unnecessary and avoidable hardship before time runs out. It’s still not too late.
Without pay, families may be forced to delay essential bills, accrue debt, or make impossible choices between food, housing, and care for their children. Morale and focus within the ranks are already being undermined. Programs that keep military families supported could be disrupted, adding stress to households already stretched thin.
“As a 24-year Army veteran, I know what it means to serve without question, but no one should serve without pay because of political gamesmanship,” said Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks. “Our men and women in uniform deserve better. So do our farmers, seniors, and families who depend on a functioning government.”
This is a crisis we can prevent. Our troops put their lives on the line for our country every day. They deserve certainty, respect, and support, not political games.
It’s time to put our military, our national security, and our country above politics. End the shutdown. Pay our troops.
