5 Days Until Our Troops Go Unpaid

5 days until our troops go unpaid. Military families may have to make impossible choices, all while their loved ones are bravely defending the nation. Our service members and their families deserve the best, Congress must ensure that they get their pay without delay.

1.3 million active duty personnel and their families are counting on Congress to do the right thing and end the shutdown to avoid inflicting needless financial catastrophe on the men and women who selflessly put their lives on the line each day so we can remain free.

And our troops are already getting hit hard. Allison Glader, a spokesperson for Feeding San Diego noted the impact of the shutdown on our service members stating, “you’re choosing between putting gas in the car, food on the table, or paying the electricity bill. One missing paycheck: that’s life-changing.” Senator Jim Banks echoed these concerns, “A 23-year-old sailor trying to feed his baby and take care of his family is about to miss a paycheck.” We must not allow that to happen.

It’s time to put our military, our national security, and our country above politics. End the shutdown. Pay our troops.
