6 Days Until Our Troops Go Unpaid

6 days until our troops go unpaid. While they train, deploy, and defend our nation, America’s warfighters face looming financial stress at home. Veterans On Duty urges Congress to act before service members and their families are forced to pay the price.

Research conducted by Blue Star Families shows that 72% of active-duty service members, veterans, and their spouses surveyed listed delayed paychecks as their most urgent concern. Nearly as many reported heightened stress and anxiety caused by the shutdown’s impact on their households.

“We should never put our troops in this position,” a military spouse told CNN. “We should never put their families in this position. The economy for military spouses is tough enough as it is.”

At a time when military families are already navigating the costs and disruptions of relocating to new duty assignments, Congress must act to shield our troops from undue financial strain.

It’s time to put our military, our national security, and our country above politics. End the shutdown. Pay our troops.

Executive Director, Veterans On Duty
