Dear Friends,
The U.S.–Australia alliance remains one of the most enduring and consequential in the Indo-Pacific. Built on shared values, mutual trust, and decades of security cooperation, it continues to adapt to new global challenges – foremost among them the looming threat of a stronger and more aggressive Chinese Communist Party. From defense and technology to trade and energy, this partnership stands as a cornerstone of strength and stability.
In recent years, the center of the alliance has been a pact known as AUKUS—the trilateral agreement between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. More than a defense pact, AUKUS deepens industrial collaboration, enhances undersea warfare capabilities, and advances innovation in emerging technologies for each of these three allied nations. It reflects a shared commitment to collective strength in the backyard of an adversary and lasting peace in that part of the world.
This week, President Trump and Prime Minister Albanese reaffirmed that alliance through more than $3 billion in new agreements on critical minerals, rare earth elements, and advanced defense technologies. These investments will bolster supply chains, expand clean energy cooperation, and strengthen both nations’ economic and national security while reducing dependence on adversarial sources.
Veterans On Duty applauds the Trump Administration for reinforcing the vitality of this partnership and the vision that guides it. Together, the United States and Australia are charting a future defined by innovation and an unwavering commitment to freedom and peace in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
