This Saturday, June 14th, marks the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army. Established by the Continental Congress in 1775, the Army has been the cornerstone of our nation’s defense from its very beginning.
From the Battle of Bunker Hill to the forests of the Ardennes, and from the deserts of Iraq to the mountains of Afghanistan, America’s soldiers have stood at the forefront in the fight for liberty, freedom, and democracy.
For 250 years, countless brave men and women have worn the Army uniform, making extraordinary sacrifices to protect the American way of life and defend the liberties we hold dear.
Every American—across generations—owes a profound debt of gratitude to these soldiers. Their dedication to this noble aim embodies the service’s enduring motto: “This We’ll Defend.”
