Dear Friends,
Protect. Defend. Save. That’s the mission of the United States Coast Guard—and we saw it in action during the recent catastrophic flooding in Texas. As communities faced rising waters and urgent evacuations, Coast Guardsmen were some of the first on the scene, conducting daring rescue operations and proving once again what American service looks like when it matters most.
Among the heroes was Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer and Petty Officer Scott Ruskan, who personally saved 165 lives. “When I’m lowered into that water, I don’t see numbers—I see people who need help,” Ruskan shared. “You train for this, you prepare for this, but nothing compares to knowing you were someone’s last hope.” His courage is a powerful reminder of the skill, grit, and selflessness required of those who serve.

Our service members are tasked with defending Americans at home and abroad. That responsibility demands world-class training, equipment, and support. When we ask them to face danger, we owe them the tools to succeed—nothing less.
We’re proud of every man and woman who takes the oath to protect this nation—who step forward not for glory, but for duty. From storm surges to combat zones, they show up—without hesitation, without excuses. They protect, they defend, and they save.
