Russian Drone Incursion

Dear Friends,

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago, Vladimir Putin has grown increasingly emboldened in his attempts to undermine American national security and that of our allies. Time and again, he has used force to expand his territory and advance his interests.

From the invasion of Georgia in 2008, to the seizure of Crimea in 2014, and the war in Ukraine launched in 2022, Putin has repeatedly tested the free world’s resolve to stand up for sovereignty, freedom, and democracy.

This week, that resolve faced a new challenge. Russian drones crossed into two NATO nations on Europe’s eastern flank—first in Poland, then Romania. While the Kremlin denied deliberate incursions, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was unequivocal: “No doubt about it: the drones were intentionally launched.”

NATO has responded swiftly and decisively. Polish fighter jets shot down three drones, and British and French forces have joined in bolstering defenses under Operation Eastern Sentry, demonstrating NATO’s enduring strength and commitment to collective security.

Acting U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Dorothy Shea reaffirmed America’s commitment to confronting Russian aggression before the Security Council this week, stating that “the United States will defend every inch of NATO territory.”

By standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our allies, we not only strengthen our combined defense but also send an unmistakable message that any attack on NATO will be met with overwhelming force. This resolve is essential to deterring further aggression, protecting American interests, and ensuring Putin is held accountable for his actions.
