Statement from Veterans On Duty on the Deaths of Ismail Haniyeh and Fuad Shukr
Veterans On Duty welcomes reports that Ismail Haniyeh, chief of Hamas’ political bureau, and Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah military advisor, have been eliminated. both men were U.S. Specially Designated Global Terrorists with long records of fomenting terror across the Middle East.
As the second highest-ranking Hamas leader, Haniyeh was instrumental in the terror group’s operations, including the October 7 attack where dozens of Americans were killed and a dozen more taken hostage, in addition to the killing of hundreds of innocent Israeli civilians. Shukr, who directed the recent strike on Majdal Shams that killed Israeli children, was also a key figure in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 U.S. service members.
May these decisive actions bring a measure of justice to the survivors and families of victims of Iran-backed terrorism.
