VOD Statement on Israel’s Successful Precision Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Program

Today, Jeremy Hunt, Chairman of the Board of Veterans on Duty (VOD), released the following statement commending Israel’s armed forces for the strikes against Iran that not only protect the citizens of Israel but also advance U.S. national security interests:

“Israel’s successful precision strikes against Iran’s nuclear weapons program and senior military leadership deserve to be widely commended. This operation was a justified and necessary response to prevent the regime from obtaining nuclear weapons. Israel’s actions advance U.S. national security interests and will save an untold number of lives.

The regime in Iran has spent decades fueling terrorist violence against Americans, our allies, and countless innocent civilians. Let us not forget that the blood of roughly one in every six American combat fatalities in Iraq is on Iran’s hands. It would be unacceptable for the Ayatollah and his regime—who proudly chant ‘Death to America’ and seek the assassination of American leaders—to possess a nuclear weapon.

President Trump and our Israeli allies gave Iran a chance to come to the table and negotiate. The regime did not do so in good faith. Israel’s effective, targeted actions opened a new opportunity for Iran and its leaders to choose a different path forward. As President Trump said, ‘We gave them a chance and they didn’t take it.’ Iran should do so now.”
